“Feels like we can breathe now”

It’s so hard to ask for help sometimes. Clients so often come to our office and say that they felt so embarrassed about their financial situation but that they wish they’d seen us sooner.

The worry of money troubles can really be detrimental to our health, with stress levels rising as mounting pressure to pay bills increases.

“It feels like we can breathe now,” said one happy client, after speaking to a financial mentor. “It was great to have the support to get my husband and I on the same path with our financial situation, also helping us realise that if we work to a plan we can still afford hobbies and date nights,” said another.

Kingdom Resources supports around 1,700 adults and their children each year. The most common thing clients say is that “I wish we’d come sooner”, as they know they would have felt relief a lot earlier.

The cost-of-living is really impacting our community, with many more two-income couples seeking help than ever before. We’re sadly also seeing a rise in whanau being unable to pay their mortgage, sometimes leading to mortgagee sales which may have been avoided if they’d sought help a bit earlier.

Many of us find it hard to talk about money, let alone talk about it with a stranger. The Kingdom Resources’ team strongly recommends that if you’re worried about money, or just need a new perspective on your finances, that you see a financial mentor sooner rather than later so that together we can work out a plan to help you achieve your goals.
